SUPPORT THE RB CHILDREN
What is RB?
Retinoblastoma, RB is the most common eye tumor in children, occurring most frequently in children under the age of 5, with a similar impact on both girls and boys. Most RB patients are the first to be diagnosed in their families. The tumor may appear in one eye (unilateral retinoblastoma) or in both eyes simultaneously (bilateral retinoblastoma). Retinoblastoma is a extremely rare condition. Worldwide, the annual incidence rate of retinoblastoma is one case per 16,000 to 18,000 newborns. Based on this, there are approximately 8,000-9,000 new cases of retinoblastoma in children globally each year. In China, there are approximately 1,100 new cases each year.
How to help the RB children?
The Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is the world's oldest and largest private cancer center. Currently, among the retinoblastoma patients treated at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the survival rate is as high as 99%, with a preservation rate of at least one eye at over 99%, and the probability of preserving normal vision in at least one eye exceeds 90%.
Caring for Chinese children coming to New York for RB treatment is one of CAAMNY's distinctive features. We have raised funds for the RB Children's Foundation and organized various meaningful activities for the Foundation.
